Kristofer “Coop” Cooper has been training Search dogs since 2006. His first dog “Scout” is a 10 year old Australian Shepherd. He is currently certified in Wilderness, Cadaver, Evidence, and Shoreline water search disciplines. Scout and Coop have had a successful career, with one live find to their credit.
His second dog “Brady” is a 3 year old mixed breed cattle dog (Red Heeler, German Shepherd, and Aussie Shepherd). He is currently certified in Wilderness, Cadaver, and Shoreline water search disciplines. Brady is known by his friends as “The Little Red Rocket” for his speed and agility. Brady is also working toward his Open water (Boat) certification.
Coop lives in northwestern Wyoming at the base of the Beartooth Mountains. He lives with his wife Errin and their 4 other dogs (Hannah, Ranger, Mick, and Watson), 3 Horses, 8 chickens, and 3 cats. They relocated there from a small town in northern California in June of 2000.
Coop works for Park County Road & Bridge as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He is also a volunteer fire fighter for his local department. He has certified as a Firefighter 2 for structure and a Firefighter type 2 for Wildland. He has an extensive background in the outdoors where he worked as a line clearance tree trimmer in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains, and guided hunters and fishermen in northwestern Montana. He holds a Wilderness First Responder certification from WMI, NOLS. He has also spent lots of time hiking and backpacking in 6 of the western and Rocky Mountain states.
When he is not training his dogs, Coop likes to spend his time fly fishing, hunting, hiking & backpacking, mountain biking or tackling some trails in his Toyota 4Runner. He also enjoys turning wrenches and fabricating parts for his Toyota.
